Jamie Meade is currently serving a life without the possibility of parole sentence for aiding and abetting felony murder. Jamie was tried and convicted in 1993 when he was 19 years old. He has been incarcerated for nearly 30 years.
What makes Jamie's situation highly unusual is that his codefendant, the principal defendant who committed the shooting, was found guilty of a lesser included offense and Jamie was given a LWOP sentence.
Jamie's story does not stop there. Jamie has gained the support of many politicians, professors, community leaders, and organizations. The Sentencing Project also supports his release and has recently featured him in their report titled Felony Murder: An On-Ramp for Extreme Sentencing.
